We went on an afternoon fishing trip with Linda Vos Graham and family. What a perfect afternoon for fishing. They had calm seas, 73 degrees, a light breeze, and the fish were biting! We fished from the 35s to the 37s west and just south of the nets at the 55s. We trolled east and west. With the temp probe at 55ft it would read from 62 degrees to 53 degrees. Each time we passed through the break we caught fish. Program: Both side riggers were hot with blue spoons, set to 47ft and 55ft. The center rigger took Lake Trout down 80ft with a meat rig, and the two low wires back 145ft and 175ft with meat took nice Kings.

The best fishing was just off the bank again, 110ft to 130ft of water. Our fish all came on Moon Shine Spoons in the 45ft to 60ft range. Full cores, wire divers back 110ft and 140ft took fish, the riggers saw lots of action down 45, 50, 55ft. What a great day for fishing, until the wind started to blow right at the end of the trip.

Scott Lemon and friends on their first Lake Michigan salmon charter together had a great time. It was an excellent day for fishing, with worm sunny skies, and calm seas. The morning bite was slow, but fishing was steady all day. We caught salmon, steelhead and lake trout. Nice catch everyone. The best fishing was off Ludington state park again, fish came from the 01s to the 05s, in 80ft to 120ft of water. The 1/2 cores took the steelhead with SS spoons. Full cores with spin doctors and flies took some nice kings. We ran meat rigs on our low wires back 110ft and the middle rigger down 80ft. these produced large kings and nice lake trout. We had Spin doctors and flies on everything else.

Sat. was excellent fishing. Limit catches were reported on the bank at Ludington State park. The fishing started early in the dark. Fish were caught from the 01s to the 05s in 70ft to 120ft of water. The fish came on 1/2 core, 7 color and full core, with SS spoons. Also divers 60ft, 80ft and, 100ft back, with spin doctors and flies produced well. Later in the day the riggers with 10in spin doctors and meatless teasers were the ticket.

Fishing was slow today. The fish are still feeding at night with the full moon. The early bite in shallow water is still the best. There are lots of fish out in the 38s but they won’t bite, but when they do look out. I have heard from the Pentwater fisherman about more active fish being taken at Little Point Sable, and some Steelhead being taken in the 12,s out of Manistee. Fish are still being taken, check out these first timers, all smiles after a great day on the water. The program remains the same. Run plugs early in shallow water.

The water has all changed. Cold water has moved in south of the Big Point Sable and the Salmon have moved into shallow water 30ft to 50 ft. Fish are being caught from just south of the Ludington pier heads to the point. The fish are biting early, in the dark, and slow down about 1 hour after sunrise. Fishing lots of high lines and cores, the primary bait for catching these big 4 year old Salmon is Glow plugs. Program: High lines, 2, 3, and 5 color cores. High mono divers back 75ft. Low mono divers back 50ft. Riggers down 15ft, 18ft, and 22ft with 60ft leads. Our best glow plugs were Ace High double glow and the Ace High Gray Ghost.
