Featured Family Friendly Events in November

The lakeshore communities of West Michigan do a fantastic job of hosting events and activities that include the whole family. There's so much happening that is geared specifically toward kids and families as a whole, and that's part of what makes being here so amazing!

Every season in West Michigan has it's unique, fun things to do for kids of all ages- from babies up to the "young at heart". Indoors or outdoors, no matter the time of year, there's always something great going on along the lakeshore for families to experience together!

In addition to the following list, check out all the special events and programs provided by Sandcastles Children's Museum and the Ludington and Scottville branches of the Mason County District Libraries!

Here's a list of family friendly events happening along the lakeshore in November:

November 18th-24th, 6:15-7:45pm

Ludington Recreation Swim Team Winter Season Registration at the Donald C. Baldwin Pool- 706 E. Tinkham Ave. in Ludington. The Ludington Recreation Swim Team in an entry level competitive swim team open to students in Kindergarten and older. Any student who can swim two widths of the pool in the deep end may join the team regardless of prior team or swim lesson experience. Swimmers may participate the first week (registration week) to try it out. Registration is required prior to November 25th or first practice.

Wednesday, November 27th, 6:30-8:30pm

Ludington Area Jaycees Light Up the Night Music Series featuring Adam Knudsen at Ludington Pub- 209 S. James St. Fundraiser for the Freedom Festival Fireworks Fund. 50/50 Raffle and sale of past Freedom Festival t-shirts will also benefit the fund.

Thursday, November 28th, 12-2pm

Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Emanuel Lutheran Church- 501 E. Danaher in Ludington. Delivery for the homebound can be arranged.

Friday, November 29th, 6:30-8pm

Hart Home for the Holidays Parade & Tree Lighting in Downtown Hart.

Saturday, November 30th

  • 4-6pm - Pre-Parade Open House at the Ludington Library- 217 E. Ludington Ave.
  • 5pm - Festival of Lights and Santa's Arrival in downtown Pentwater.
  • 5:30-6pm - Tree-lighting and caroling in Legacy Plaza (formerly James St. Plaza)
  • 6pm - Aglow on the Avenue Parade
  • 6-8pm - Tree Lighting in Silver Lake.
  • 7-8pm - Visit with Santa at Sandcastles Children's Museum

    Canoeing or Fishing on the Pere Marquette River -- Many boat liveries offer canoe rentals.
