The Ludington State Park is offering even more snowshoe making classes than ever before. Dates begin in October, and go through January.A schedule of 2010-2011 Snowshoe Making Classes will be posted as it becomes available.
Instructors will guide you through the steps to making top-of-the-line traditional wooden snowshoes that will get you through the deep snowfalls, and will last for generations. The cost for making a pair of snowshoes ranges from $90-$160, depending on the style of snowshoe. This includes the pre-formed wooden frames, lacing, top of the line binding, and personal instructions.
Call the Ludington State Park for reservations at (231) 843-9261. A Michigan State Parks and Recreation Motor Vehicle Permit will be required and may be purchased through the Michigan DNR or at the park. Annual passes are $24, daily pass is $6.
